The best Coachella looks (and how to do them on the cheap)

The best Coachella looks (and how to do them on the cheap)

Because we don't have Beyonce-sized budgets...

Coachella kicked off festival season in fine fashion form...

While here in the UK we’re anxiously refreshing BBC Weather in hopes of a heatwave, our mates across the pond headed to Coachella for a weekend of sunshine, music and looking fit.

Needless to say, looking at trillions of Coachella Instas made me pretty jealous, but on the plus side, it meant I had plenty of time to get planning my own festival outfits ready for summer.

Here's my round-up of the  top tier A-list looks, and tips for recreating them on a normal person budget...

1. Hailey Baldwin’s sports jersey

A vintage sports jersey always looks good. Hailey smashed it in a lil' Rangers number and looked like a classic All-American girl in their red, white and blue team colours.

For similar sports luxe vibes head check out DEMOS (run by Hong Kong born Central St Martins graduate McQueen Li) who have a super range of basketball and football jerseys. Style them with some denim shorts and crisp white trainers, and you're sorted.

2. Rihanna’s bodysuit and parachute pants combo

Riri consistently serves up looks which on paper are highly questionable, but somehow work, and this Coachella look is a prime example.

This time she paired a bright pink neoprene slogan bodysuit with huge parachute pants, and somehow, the proportions were just right.

Assuming the weather will at some point cheer up, I propose stepping this look up by pairing Tallulah's Threads pink metallic bikini top with...

These vintage Kappa tracksuit pants from Messina Hembry. Because who doesn’t want to be Rihanna?

3. Gigi’s windbreaker dress

Gigi takes your classic shirt dress up a notch with a windbreaker interpretation over a tiny blue crop. GENIUS move.

To get this look we’d head over to Basement Six to pick up this vintage Nautica jacket...

And layer it over this cute metallic crop by Glitter Romance.

Gigi wore over the knee heeled boots with this look, but as Coachella is miles away from the muddy fields of Parklife, we suggest sticking to your wellies! We're expecting the windbreaker style to be huge this summer, so get on board while you can.

Alternatively, if you’re not ready to embrace the windbreaker, this tropics shirt by Yolkax would look banging too.

4. Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall’s dress ‘n' trainer combos

The Little Mix girls were the definition of casual chic in their festival outfits (which wouldn’t look out of place on a uni night out either tbh).

This yellow floral wrap dress by Allegra (which is a total bargain at just £20) is just as cute as Leigh-Anne's, and would look great with a demin or leather jacket.

If Jade's look is more your vibe, check out this checkerboard bodycon dress by GoGuy (yes, it's a dress, not a top and skirt!).

5. Charli XCX’s amazing dungarees

Charlie XCX had so many amazing ‘fits over the weekend it was hard to pick, but these dungarees took it to another level. Dungarees probably aren't the most practical look for a UK festival (we can't imagine they're much fun in a Portaloo), but best believe I’ll be wearing them at every given opportunity this summer.

For our pick we’re opting for these insanely delicious vintage Polo Ralph Lauren dungarees from Basement Six. Practical or not, if you don’t already own dungarees wyd?

6. Vanessa Hudgens' sundress style

Coachella queen Vanessa Hudgens killed it again in this sundress, but it’s her amazing attention to detail with accessories that has seen her take the style crown again and again.

We’d steal her style with this dress from Soleil Store

And finish the look with a necklace from Allegra!

7. Camila Mendes’ embellished bralette

Riverdale star Camila Mendes opted for a super summary bralette for her week 2 look, pairing it with some sweatpants for the ultimate sports luxe look that will look good whether you’re at a festival or at a bbq.

Steal her look with this amazing crochet top by Soleil Store.....

...And these wavy vintage track pants from Re:dream Vintage.

8. Ariana Grande brought face glitter back

Ari signalled the start of festival season with a glitter highlight in Pantone’s colour of the year. That’s pure dedication to fashion right there.

Whether you’re hitting up Wireless or Stealth, get your glitter on with In Your Dreams

If a glitter highlight is your thing, go subtle with a fine glitter.

or if you’re a well established festival queen, try their chunky version!

Honorary mention: Everything Beyonce wore.
