Trend forecasters have announced that a colour called Neo Mint will be big news in 2020. Here's the low down...
While most of us have only just embraced 2018's colours like ultraviolet, palace blue and the infamous frozen yellow, style and trend forecasters have already moved on to a year far, far away... 2020 to be exact.
Yes, according to WGSN's colour director Jane Monnington Boddy, Neo Mint will be the colour of that season and we are here for it.
As the name implies, Neo Mint is a futuristic take on a natural, earthy tone, which given futuristic connotations that the year 2020 has makes complete sense.
Society is always looking to innovate and head towards the future, but now more than ever we are looking to do that in an eco-friendly way, and 2020 will be a big year for this.
In 2020 countries around the world are set to help protect natural resources in a number of unique ways. Libya will be the first African nation to stop deforestation, countries including China and Norway will be introducing car-free cities, and bio fuel is on track to be cost competitive with fossil fuels worldwide.
Also, Japan are planning on building a base on the moon - which has nothing to do with this trend, but we think it's really cool and you should know.
And when you think about these technological advancements and the heightened environmental awareness, it seems pretty perfect that it'll all be set to a Neo Mint backdrop. After all, Boddy called Neo Mint: "a shade that succinctly aligns futuristic development with nature.”
But all deep-dives aside, this colour is lovely and we can't wait to see it on everyone in a couple of years!
